A Symphony in the Gardens of Ungaro
Paris Fashion Week, 2 Avenue Montaigne – the prestigious address of Maison Emanuel Ungaro, where the Spring/Summer 2025 collection was unveiled. We were welcomed by Kobi Halperin, the creative director of the maison since 2021, to witness the collection titled “Symphonie du Jardin.” Inspired by the work of Joseph Stella, an Italian-American painter renowned for his unique ability to fuse the natural and industrial worlds with vibrant, colourful art, this collection encapsulates nature’s harmony.
Kobi, a lover of nature and French gardens, found his muse when encountering the exhibition “Visionary Nature,” which showcased Stella’s art invoking the beauty of the natural world. This discovery became the starting point for his collection.
HONOURING THE CODES
Founded in 1965, Maison Emanuel Ungaro has a vast legacy within the exclusive world of Haute Couture. Emanuel Ungaro, shaped by the master couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga, whom he assisted for six years, developed a distinctive style marked by bold, vibrant colours, mixed prints, and intricate drapery. Kobi remains faithful to these codes, celebrating feminine beauty through his designs. However, he emphasises creating pieces meant to be worn and lived in, not just admired.
The collection is a tropical ode to beauty and the lightness of a garden. Floral prints dominated, with a vibrant palette including shades of turquoise, fuchsia, orange, jade, alongside classic white and black. Lavender appeared in a range of hues and textures, with lace reminiscent of wrought iron gates softened by the delicacy of watercolour.
BORN TO SHINE!
The Ungaro woman is undoubtedly born to shine, which was evident in the sequined floral motifs and 3D embroidered lilies adorning necklines.
This collection is fluid, feminine, light, and bold – designed to accompany summer days. No matter the path she takes, her garden will always be in bloom.
