Jaguar E-Type Triumphs in Rally the Globe's Spectacular Carrera Bavaria

Bavaria, Germany – The fifth installment of Rally the Globe’s celebrated Carrera series concluded with thrilling victories and memorable experiences. Simon and Juanita Brien clinched the Classic category title in their stunning 1963 Jaguar E-Type after ten days of fierce competition, while Martin and Olivia Hunt dominated the Pre-War category with their iconic 1937 Frazer Nash-BMW 328.

A Rally of Epic Proportions

This year's Carrera Bavaria treated participants to a meticulously planned 1,355-mile route through southern Germany's breathtaking landscapes. Starting from the grand Schlosshotel in Kronberg im Taunus, the rally journeyed through the Black Forest, along Lake Constance, and into the majestic Alps, concluding at the Kempinski Berchtesgaden. The rally, exclusively for pre-1977 cars, combined the thrill of competition with luxurious hospitality, fine dining, and picturesque excursions.

Classic Category: A Battle to Remember

The Classic category saw intense rivalry from the outset. Clint and Dawn Smith in their 1961 Jaguar XK150 set an early lead, but the Brien’s black E-Type soon took over. As the rally progressed, Steve and Jenny Verrall’s 1965 Porsche 911 and Ean and Alison Lewin’s 1973 Ford Escort Mexico joined the fray, creating a nail-biting finish. In the final Speed Tests high in the Alps, the Brien's E-Type emerged victorious, overcoming the competition by mere seconds.

Pre-War Category: A Historic Hat-Trick

The Hunts, driving their Frazer Nash-BMW 328, achieved an impressive hat-trick of Carrera wins. Despite limited competition in the Pre-War category, they focused on challenging the Classic contenders, nearly outpacing them. Martin Hunt praised the event, highlighting the exceptional route and organization.

Special Recognitions and Future Events

The Spirit of the Rally award went to Tomasz Dzitko and Bea Siwek for their perseverance despite vehicle challenges, while the Against All Odds trophy was awarded to Brian and Catherine Scowcroft, who overcame mechanical issues to participate.

Rally Director Fred Gallagher and Clerk of the Course Mark Appleton expressed their satisfaction with the event’s success, emphasizing the camaraderie and competition among participants.

Looking ahead, Rally the Globe announced the 2025 Carrera Andalucia, with pre-registrations now open. Other upcoming events include the Austria to Athens Challenge and the Islands of Japan Marathon, promising more thrilling adventures for classic car enthusiasts.
