Hotel Indigo Coventry – A lovely stay in the heart of the automobile

Last week, I stayed at the beautiful Hotel Indigo Coventry, right in the heart of the city. Coventry is known for its deep history, the story of Lady Godiva, and its strong ties to the car industry. It’s a city that blends the old with the new—and the hotel does exactly the same.

The moment I walked into the lobby, I was greeted by something truly special: a classic 1958 Austin Healey 100-6 car sitting proudly on display. It was such a cool touch and a reminder of Coventry’s car-making past.

The hotel has a stylish industrial-chic vibe, mixing modern design with cosy comfort. Think exposed ventilation ducts, soft lighting, stylish furniture, and lots of personality.

My Super King Room was bright, spacious, and super comfortable. The bed was a Hypnos (incredibly comfortable by the way!) with Egyptian cotton sheets that felt like sleeping on clouds. The bathroom was spa-inspired with a walk-in shower and a vintage bath. Also, suites and premium rooms come with a Nespresso machine for those much-needed coffee moments. The room also had fast Wi-Fi (a must-have if you are staying there for business reasons), a 40” flat-screen TV, and everything you need for a relaxing stay.

Location-wise, the hotel is super convenient—just 2 minutes from Coventry train station, and only a 10-minute walk to Coventry Cathedral, the Transport Museum, and other city landmarks.

One of the highlights of my stay was dinner at the hotel’s new restaurant, COGS. For starters, I recommend the Crispy Beef Strips and Crispy Macaroni Bites. Also, I also had the rump steak, which was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious—tender, juicy, and rich in flavour.

But as a vegan option, I tried the Lady Godiva Burger, it was full of flavour and the surprising part was the delicious charcoal bun. It’s a tribute to the city’s famous heroine and tastes just as bold. Whether you're into plant-based dishes or classic comfort food, there’s something for everyone here.

Coventry might not be your first pick for a weekend break, but Hotel Indigo Coventry will definitely surprise you. With its great location, stylish design, spacious rooms, and tasty food, it’s a little gem worth discovering.
